A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of curating the music for Ojon’s product celebration featuring Melanie Fiona. It was held at the penthouse rooftop of the new Standard East Village Hotel in Cooper Square. There were beautiful portraits of women everywhere, Amanda Seales was the featured live painter and there was even a special cocktail made to look just like the bottled hair product. Not to mention the orderves were 5 star (i would know after eating about 10 rounds).
My instagram flicks of the penthouse:
My playlist was one of my favorites filled with neo-soul, South African music, roots reggae and R&B. Melanie was kind enough to shout my selection out. Check out the recap video filmed & edited by Legyre…
Love this lady! Congrats to Melanie Fiona on her new album, “The MF Life”!

My sister, Danai was also present at the event…

We first came across Melanie about 4 years ago from her Youtube video “Somebody Come Get Me”. Being reggae-holics and suckers for love songs that express the deep strain that one goes through, we were instantly hooked. At the end of the Ojon event, Melanie sang this song with us and it was truly magical. If you haven’t seen her perform this, watch here…
Specials thanks to the ever so wonderful Janjay as well as May for all the fun!
